BEGINNER WHEEL THROWING

6 Weeks- 


Monday  6-9pm

Have you "always wanted to try that..." Now is your chance! Try your hand at wheel throwing in this 6 week course for beginners and continuing to learn wheel beginners. Learn the fundamentals of the pottery wheel with skilled and friendly instructor Amanda Kennedy! 


  • Introduction to pottery materials & tools
  • Fundamentals of Wheel throwing techniques
  • Supportive and creative studio atmosphere
  • Clay, tools, glaze included *ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED*
  • 3 hrs/week instruction (6 weeks)
  • Open studio time outside of class to improve and practice!


*Although these classes are intended for beginners, if you have some experience or it has been years since you've touched clay, we recommend a refresher!

Introduction to Working With Clay- Wheel Throwing & Hand Building

This class is an introduction to all things clay...learn the process by exploring wheel thrown and hand built techniques. This is a  6 week course for beginners and continuing to learn and improve upon existing experience students. Learn the fundamentals with Owner of Eastside Clay, ceramic artist and educator, Deanna Clyne!

Clay Sampler With Naidee!

4 Weeks-

This is a 4 week clay sampler with instructor Naidee! She will guide students through a sampling of wheel thrown and hand-built techniques.

  • Fundamentals of Wheel throwing AND Hand-building techniques

  • Clay, tools, glaze included *ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED*
  • 2 hrs/week instruction (4 weeks)
  • Open studio time outside of class to improve and practice!

Teen Ceramics

Monday's 4-6 pm


8 Week Session

1/12, 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2


 

(Ages 12-17)


This teen clay class will fuel the creative mind and allow students to work on projects at their own pace. Instruction will be based on a student by student basis.  Learn the fundamentals of working with clay and have fun doing so!  With instructor and owner of Eastside Clay, Deanna Clyne.

  • Supportive and creative studio atmosphere
  • Clay, tools, glaze and firings included


*We encourage independent learning at Eastside Clay and do not encourage parents to accompany teens during class.

*Student are expected to follow studio rules.

RENT OUR STUDIO

Rent our studio for a group party, team-building event or family fun!


  • Wheel throwing or hand-built project 
  • Up to 12 individuals (for wheel throwing)
  • Up to 20 individuals for hand-built project
  • Bring Food/Beverages
  • $75 per person (depending on project)
  • 3 hr event


*Pieces will be fired/glazed and ready for pickup within 3-4 weeks

BEGINNER HAND BUILDING

Class CLOSED



Learn the basics of hand-building in this 4 week class! Learn the process of working with clay, proper building technique and glazing.  We will cover multiple techniques essential for creating your clay project you've been thinking about for years. With instructor and owner of Eastside Clay, Deanna Clyne


  • Introduction to pottery materials & tools
  • Multiple hand-building techniques covered including: pinch, slab and coil building
  • Decorating slip/Sgraffito techniques 
  • Supportive and creative studio atmosphere
  • Clay, tools, glaze included
  • 3 hrs/week (4 weeks)

age 17+

MEMBERSHIPS:

  • Prior clay experience required (At least 2 classes at ESC or another studio)
  • Knowledge of clay process/firing and glazing process
  • Comfortable working independently in the studio with knowledge of basic building and glazing techniques
  • Members are required to commit to 3 months at a time (Payment for each month is separate)
  • Starting either the 1st OR 15th of the month
  • 3 tiers available

MEMBER BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  • Weekly low (bisque/low fire glazes) and mid-range firings (stoneware)
  • Access to studio equipment, tools, extruder, slab roller, and pottery wheels
  • Studio glazes, under glazes, and oxides available for use
  • Discounted workshops and classes 
  • Clean, organized, welcoming and friendly space
  • Creative, community space with lots of laughter and support! 
  • Half shelf for storing tools and work in progress

4 clay bodies available:


  • Laguna B-MIx (white porcelain like)
  • Laguna B-Mix with Speckles (white porcelain like with speckles)
  • Terracotta- Rovin Ceramics (dark brown-mid range)
  • Laguna Speckled Buff (toasty and speckled)
  • If you are wanting to use an outside clay body- Must be approved, must store own reclaim, $15 fee per 25# for firing and glazing costs
